2.)Character Development: Nick finally reveals Gatsby’s true past. Gatsby is nothing that he said he was. He came from a poor background and got his money from a man he used to work for. This also gives a greaty insight to Gatsby’s current personality issues. It brings light to all those times he quickly changed the subject about his past. The book also reveals a deeper look into Gatsby’s psycological prison. ”
He talked a lot about the past, and I gathered that he wanted to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into loving Daisy. His life had been confused and disordered since then, but if he could once return to a certain starting place and go over it all slowly, he could find out what that thing was.” Gatsby has dreamed of having Daisy for so long that instead of loving her he fell in love with the dream. And now that Gatsby is getting her, he doesn’t have that dream anymore.
